Workshop: Fabrication & Restoration Benches
Like a giant puzzle, the pieces of glass are assembled using lead came. Each lead joint is soldered on both sides of the panel. Items undergoing restoration are disassembled on these benches as well; broken glass is replaced, and the panel is reassembled using new lead came. For long-term structural support, stainless steel bars are soldered directly to the panel. Occasionally a project requires that copper ties be soldered to the panel instead, with round support bars attached using the ties.
